Fabric Review: Marzipan Linen with a Twist
We made a neutral colored top that’s not at all neutral in shape. Neutral is simply something that goes with many other things. This top is neutral in color but very bold and unique in shape. This top almost captures Amanda’s personality. It’s creative and fun with a “sing your favorite song at the top of your lungs, spin and dance with full abandon and love deeply” kind of feel. Or maybe that’s just the vibe Amanda brings.
We love neutral linen. This color is rich yet soft. Marzipan is almost a toasted cream. The texture is wonderful and the drape is really nice. This has a full exaggerated sleeve and strappy top designed back just for her in this lovely 5.3 oz linen. It pairs so well with her classic jeans but I’m sure it would work well with shorts, skirts or other pants she has in her collection. If you don’t have a bold shape in mind like we did, Fabrics-store has so many patterns to offer you options for garments to make with your Marzipan Linen. Check out all the patterns HERE – free ones and patterns for purchase.
Just as it reads in the Marzipan listing, the cloth is softened as Fabrics-store has added a softener to give it a silkier hand. This is true and there is more you can do to make it even softer. I always prelaunder my fabric before starting a project because I want to avoid any future shrinking that may ruin the size and shape we were trying to achieve with the garment. In addition to pre shrinking the fabric, you are also adding an extra step for the texture and every time you wash and dry this piece, you’ll be enhancing that just a bit more.
There are so many reasons linen is a timeless fabric. It’s breathable and perfect for year round wear absorbing moisture without gathering bacteria. It’s also known to be the strongest natural fiber which contributes to its longevity. If you can expect to have this piece for a long time to come, you could choose to make something in a lovely neutral color like Marzipan but also have a little extra fun and make the garment a bold style.
Let us know in the comments what you want to make with this lovely neutral. We love to see all your creative ideas!

Is there a way for us to get this creative pattern? I’d love to make it, also in linen.
