PATTERN REVIEW: The Riva Shirt In Lightweight Linen
Who doesn’t want to feel like they’re at a resort this summer or any time? These garments will help transport you even if you’ve decided it’s a “staycation” season for you!
For the Riva Shirt I chose the lightweight Blue Apatite Softened Linen. I like to pay attention to what colors are best for my autumn skin tone and this one is on the list. The fact that it plays into my ocean blue resort dream certainly helps as well. I wanted something not green because I wear that so often, but not all the way to an exact teal either. This beautiful cool color achieved that goal.
As you can see in the pattern photos, the Riva Shirt is quite long and I wanted mine to be a bit shorter in case I’d like to tuck my shirt into the pants without extra bulk. I laid out my Fabric-store paper pattern and used a pencil and ruler to measure 6 inches (approx 15cm) shorter on the length of the back piece A and front piece B. I am very pleased with this length.
The pattern instructions are easy to follow when you read them carefully. I have been sewing for so long I tend to want to race ahead and assume I know what is next but the designer of this pattern has planned out every step to ensure that the garment is finished with perfect details so slow down and enjoy the process.
This sleeveless top option will help keep me nice and cool in Florida this summer. I plan to pair the Riva Top with the Riva Pants for a super classic outfit that is lovely for any outing.

Alisha, your choice of color looks beautiful on you. I like the tropical look of the pants. The whole outfit should be on a fashion blog, right down to those snazzy sandals. An inspiration.
