PATTERN REVIEW: Ami Dress in Ceramic Midweight Linen
AMI Dress made with FS CERAMIC Midweight Linen
The AMI Dress was so easy to put together and has such great styling capabilities that I had fun adding some extra elements to it. I knew I wanted to make the dress in this Pattern Collection because of how versatile styling it would be. To me, this doubles up as a perfect basic as well.
I really only had to look at the instructions once before putting it all together, it was a smooth project to assemble. I did implement two changes: I lengthened the back dress pattern pieces by 3” and I made a wait tie belt since I had a little extra fabric. I added the length at the back because I didn’t want it to be shorter in case I chose to tie my waist since I like to pull some fabric up to give that blouse and skirt feel to the outfit.

The only tricky part of this project for me was initially thinking that the inside was the outside, because of how clean the collar and neckline are. I had never sewn this style tunic and neckline before.
The CERAMIC tone of this linen is so cool and energizing. Generally I love neutral palettes in my closet, yet this was a good choice for a dress as gives it a fun appeal. This summer I want to be more vibrant. I also tend not to wear short dresses so I decided to step out of my comfort zone with this project.

I love this dress because it’s easy on the eyes and fabulous to style. I’m excited about anything that transitions easily for different occasions and this dress is just that. I especially like how it changes once you put a belt on.
