What you will need:
Paper (Featured here is 150gm weight Daler Rowley Black Paper)
Scalpel (A new blade is preferable. You could go for 10A blades)
Cutting mat
Ruler
Pencil
Superglue
Thread
Time: 1.5 hours
1. Measure out ‘ two 10cm by 10cm squares and cut them out using ruler and scalpel.
2. Mark the middle of one side. In this case 5 cm. This will be the top corner of your triangle.
3. Take your ruler and line up the mark you just made with the right bottom corner- cut diagonally. Line up the top mark to the left bottom corner and cut diagonally. You should be left with a triangle. Repeat the steps with your second square.
4. Draw a line through the middle of your triangle lengthwise. This will be a guide to you in further steps.
5. Draw your design to cut out on two halves of each triangle. You could do something simple like stars and snowflakes.
6. Cut out each side carefully. Don’t forget to make an incision for your thread to go through at the top. Repeat this on your second triangle. Please be careful with the scalpel. They really can be quite dangerous.
7. Once your design is cut out make two incision running to the middle of your pencil guide. One from top down to the middle on one triangle. And a second incision from bottom up to the middle on the second triangle.
8. To assemble, slide one triangle onto the incision of your second triangle. Once everything lines up- take superglue and carefully glue the sides that have been sliced through the middle on the top and bottom. Get a pretty thread through.
Done.
If you shine some light through these- they throw amazing shadows onto walls. Magic.
