A Heart Pincushion That’s Bursting with Love
Today we are stitching up a useful heart pincushion for all your future sewing projects. ‘ This adorable heart will keep all your stray pins and needles in one place.
You won’t even have to break out the sewing machine for this hand-stitched craft. All you need in some leftover linen and cotton stuffing to begin creating your heart-shaped sewing companion!
Materials:
- Two different colors of linen
- Cotton stuffing
- Needle and thread
- Scissors
For my pincushion, I choose a gray and a pink linen. ‘ You can choose whatever colors you like together for your hearts!
I cut a heart out of paper first then traced this onto my fabric so the hearts would come out the same size. ‘ They should be somewhere around 4 ‘½ inches tall.
First, cut the larger hearts. ‘ You will need two, one for the front and one for the back.
Cut the two smaller hearts out also. ‘ The smaller hearts will be around an inch tall (or bigger if you like).
Stitch the smaller heart onto the bigger one.
Flip the heart inside out to hide the seam.
Stuff the heart with the cotton fluff to fill it out as much as you can.
Stitch the opening shut and trim off the remaining thread.Your pincushion heart is complete! ‘ It might be a little sad to prick your heart with needles since it will look so cute, but it does come in very handy when you sew!
If it break your heart too much to stick pins into your pincushion, you can also make it as a cute stuffed toy. ‘ Any child would love to have a heart shaped toy to add to their collection!
Also, this makes a perfect chew toy for a little dog or cat. ‘ If you increase the size of your heart, why not even use it as a decorative pillow? The options are endless!

A delightful addition would be to embroider on the heart pincushion either by hand or machine-
