First of all: I don’t know about the weather situation in your country, but what the hell is going on? In Austria, we had over 30C (86F) last week and now it’s 10C (50F)?! I am not okay.
We went from Birkenstock Slippers directly to boots. No “slipover over T-shirt”-, or “cute dress with thin tights” weather. It’s immediately “wool socks in bed”- and “how many sweaters can I wear before losing my arm mobility?” weather.
I know, I know – mayyyyyybe I am overexaggerating a little bit, BUT don’t you feel like the first cold days after summer feel way more freezing than the same temperatures after winter?
10C after summer is definitely hot tea weather, but 10C after winter? Let’s sit outside! Have some Aperol! Summer is coming!
So having said that- enjoy some photos of me when it was still super warm. Yesterday. (I’m just kidding, we took them in August)

Some of you may remember that I work as a flight attendant in real life. While most of my flights pre-baby were Los Angeles, Chicago and Hong Kong, I am now mostly flying to Berlin, Hamburg and Copenhagen. And even though I miss flying long distances from time to time (especially when colleagues talk about singing karaoke in Japan or In-and-Out Burgers in LA), I LOVE when I have a layover in one of those European cities. For different reasons.
For example, I have a really good friend that lives in Hamburg, Sarah, whom I haven’t seen at all during my pregnancy and Covid. As I’m not great at keeping contant (big time), we haven’t heard from each other a lot. But now whenever I have a layover in Hamburg, we meet for breakfast and it always feels like no time has passed. That’s something I really appreciate about our friendship – we don’t need to keep up with everything about each other’s lives, but whenever we do see each other, we instantly click again.
Man, just writing about her makes me miss this gorgeous woman (/monkey). But I will be in Hamburg again in October, so please cross your fingers we’ll be able to meet.

And then there is Copenhagen – the city where you always feel underdressed. How can a city be so tasteful?! Everybody – everything – just beautiful. AND THEY ARE ALL WEARING HANDKNITTED GARMENTS!! So whenever I’m there I have to go to a yarn shop – and I never leave empty-handed.
So no big surprise I left Knitting For Olive with a BIG paper bag (after being highly overwhelmed for half an hour). Knitting For Olive kind of feels like the holy grail when it comes to eco-friendly and high-quality yarn. No mulesing, no harmful chemicals. And as I think it’s “taking care of our planet” o’clock, that is something that’s important to me.
So the cardigan you see is not only knitted with KFO yarn (1 strand Merino, 1 strand Mohair), it’s also one of their own extremely gorgeous designs! Please do yourself a favor and take a look at their color palette and their patterns. I’m always a bit sad that I didn’t knot that much when E. was a baby, because their baby patterns are to die for. Maybe next time… (THIS IS NOT A PREGNANCY HINT – I’m still very single.)

I don’t knit, and every time I’m tempted to take it up, I give myself a mental “dope slap” and remind myself I don’t need another hobby to obsessively buy supplies for–and your knitted creations often force me to remind myself of that! Lovely wrap! I immediately searched out knitting for olive and saw lovely patterns though mostly for little ones. However I find no pattern for the wrap which I’d love to knit up ASAP ! Yes agreed about the weather ! Extreme shift here in the northeast of USA. Best to you !

Mystery Solved! (I think)…My search led me to this wonderful mother/daughter team’s website and lo and behold, the Darling Wrap appears to be available in German only. Perhaps a collaboration is in the cards between our inspiring friend Sophie Frank and Knitting for Olive so this gorgeous pattern may be brought forth by English readers?
