Pattern Review: Nico Slip Dress in Midweight Linen
Today you can allow yourself to play with the style of slip dresses. What should I match the dress with? A slip dress in cold weather goes well with knitted clothes (sweater, turtleneck), and coats and jackets are worn over it. In warm seasons, a shirt and a T-shirt are combined with such a model.
Making your own slip dresses allows you to use many different finishing methods and combine them with your own style and figure – fabric, length, cuts, cutouts, straps – the list goes on. Once you nail one, you can use it as a base pattern to play around and keep creating different types.
Nico dress goes perfectly with other linen items in my wardrobe and is suitable for every day. This is a great basic dress. I am 25 weeks pregnant and this dress looks greaton a pregnant belly. And since I don’t like to buy special clothes for pregnant women, this pattern turned out to be a godsend for me.
As for tailoring, you can sew this dress in 3-4 hours with coffee breaks, which is also an absolute plus, in a few hours you can make yourself an amazing linen dress.
I would also like to note that I shortened each strap by about 2.5 inches, I did not make any other changes.
The dress is cut on the bias (at an angle of 45 degrees), which gives the dress a pleasant fluidity, draping around the body.
For Nico dress, I chose medium-weight linen in New Wheat color and am very pleased with how it looks, a calm natural color is easy to combine, although this dress model will look great in other colors, including juicy and bright!
I already have ideas for sewing other models from using Niko pattern, this is, of course, a short slip dress and a tank top.

Nice job – it looks terrific on you! I appreciate the tip to cut on the bias.
