I really like to sew dresses and jumpsuits for my daughter. Today we will talk about one of my favourite dress patterns for girls. I usually find interesting patterns on Etsy, there are a lot of great stores. But be careful if you want to sew clothes with the intent of selling them, as some sellers allow it, others prohibit it, copyright information can be found in the instructions for the pattern.

This time I chose a ruffle dress from AYOminipatterns. This dress is easy to sew even if you have no experience, the instructions will help you. In addition, you can play with the design to your preference, for example, place buttons in front or back, you can use ties instead of buttons, change the length of the skirt and sleeves. This dress can be worn in summer or winter.

Linen fabric is perfect for this project.
In the first version of the dress, I used midweight hedge green linen fabric and took floral cotton for the front, in the second version, the fabric is lightweight natural linen, I added embroidery in the front, I really love embroidery and have been adding it everywhere lately. You can use contrasting linen to achieve interesting and beautiful combinations.

A little word on embroidery, in my opinion, this is the perfect opportunity to make your project individual. Use the themes you love or your child loves – flowers, animals, it can be your child’s name, I like to embroider flowers and herbs, as well as animals. I tend to favour embroidery which looks a little careless, no smooth and clear lines, sometimes I try to make the embroidery as if it was drawn by a child, and I think that the best rule is the absence of all rules, a flight of fancy. I recently took an embroidery course with a talented artist Karina Kino and it opened up new opportunities for me, I am very inspired by what Karina does in her paintings, embroideries, and images she prints on her garments. In addition, now I’m taking another course in acrylic painting. I would like to paint and decorate my house with my own art, I plan to mix paints, various types of yarn, beads and many other amazing materials. I love textures in the house and probably this is the reason I’m in love with linen, as it is also a very textured and, very importantly, natural material, and I am immensely happy that nowadays, despite the abundance of various fabrics on the market, linen, still, is highly appreciated!
