Join Our Brand New FS Sewing Group Community
Our lovely Patterns Consultant Lauren who you might have already had the pleasure of corresponding or working with over zoom, or via emails has created a new FS Sewing Group over on Facebook- a fun place to share your love of sewing (and its corresponding frustrations) with fellow seamstresses all over the world. A space of inspiration and resolution, a nurturing way to feel seen and heard. Lauren will be the moderator and first point of contact anything Sewing Group related, so if you have any questions, ideas, suggestions, (esp if you are already part of a sewing community, knitting circle, quilt lover get together or any other sew based bonding endeveur) please give her a shout in the comments below.
The pandemic has slowly but surely changed the way we interact with one another for the present moment at least (let’s hope it changes), more cautious, less sure, more hesitant, less together, more anxieties, less hugs, more separate, more lonely.
Over the last two years, digital communities have largely replaced IRL events, which is a sad and worrying reality, but as it turns out, you can have meaningful, fullfiling and awe-inspiring interactions with people who share your passion, who have similar visions, who geek out on learning new techniques just like you, who get excited about their growing fabric stash and finding solutions to make way for bigger steps in life. It is really quite rewarding to share something you love with others who are on that same wave.
If this resonates with you, please join our wonderful new community space. Also, please feel free to introduce yourselves in the comments below.

I too will continue with the blog. Facebook is not part of my life. Thank you for wonderful articles and tips you provide.

I’m Lauren and I am the Admin on the page for FS and the resident sewing and patterns consultant here.
I too dislike Facebook, for personal use. I now only use it for closed and private sewing and craft groups exclusively and use their marketplace feature in my local area or to buy/sell craft supplies.
‘Open’ Facebook as I call it, which consists of the home feed, suggestions, and open groups or pages where the general population can give their ideas and opinions on any matter is not always a nice place on the internet and one I actively avoid.
In my experience these closed groups, if moderated well, are actually really lovely wholesome places, and that is what I’m aiming to create to mirror the other wonderful craft groups I am part of on the platform.
Ideally, down the line, we would like to make our ‘Studio’ section on our website a place for this discussion and sharing, but that involves a lot of website designing, tweaking, and testing ( and we just updated the main website after years of planning!)
So I want to thank you for your feedback and let you know that I understand where you’re coming from. Our Facebook group is already proving to be a lovely space for sharing what you’ve made, gaining inspiration and meeting like-minded individuals.

No Facebook here. As others have said, I’ll keep following the blog. Sure hope you remember to include us – so many vendors think FB is the be-all-end-all in community development and support that they neglect their original/homegrown user groups.

Ditto to all of the above. No Facebook. I absolutely love the blogs and have a feeling of community with all the sewers. Keep on doing what you do.

I don’t participate in facebook. I will follow the blog as well-if and when I have time. I am so happy to have found these beautiful linens. I worked with a designer in the early 80’s who used only linen and fell in love with it. A friend introduced me to FS and I am slowly accumulating lengths of different weights to one day have the time to put a wardrobe together!

I do not belong to Facebook as well

I also have chosen to avoid social media and will therefore have to content myself with following the blog. I have a quickly growing stash of your linen and I’m never disappointed in it’s quality.

I had a very basic sewing skills and in 2019 decided that my 2020 resolution was to learn to sew. I was torn between classes and crusing online to learn some basic skills. As we all know, Covid made that decision for me and I pursued my goal using YouTube and info I found online. I made my 1st, 2nd, 3rd, ect purchases from FS having fallen in love with your linens. My skill set has slowly grown and I am making things I never would have thought I would ever be able to make at the beginning on 2020! I have really craved a bigger community to ask questions of and I would be interested in joining the FS FB group and get assistance on my journey.

Dear Masha and Lauren, what a wonderful idea! I am very happy to join this sewing group. I am a third generation Polish/Slovak American “sewist” and learned hand and machine sewing from my mother when I was a little girl. I first fell in love with your beautiful linen fabrics when I responded to your advertisement for bleached signature finish linen on Facebook two years ago on February 18th, 2019. I have by now ordered 22 times and have never been disappointed. I’ve made towels, sheets, aprons, tunics, cushion covers and blankets for my household as well as for family members who have admired my home-sewn projects, and I am nearing my goal of replacing all my household linens with your lovely fabrics.
I very much enjoy reading Masha’s posts and the articles about your color inspirations. I am curious about where in the world your fibers and fabrics originate – are they from Ukraine, Rumania, Turkey? If you’re free to say, I’d love to know. Thank you for all you’ve given me these two long pandemic years !

I’d love to be part of this community – but I avoid Facebook. Too many privacy challenges. Guess I’ll just continue following the blog.
