PATTERN REVIEW: Ami Shorts in Midweight Ceramic Linen
The AMI Pattern is my literal favorite right now. I have a mini capsule collection in my closet now thanks to this pattern. The shorts are my second make. I was so intimidated with assembling the pants, now that I have a better idea of the steps, it made sewing the shorts more enjoyable and quicker.
I generally don’t wear shorts, because I find they are usually too short for my long legs. I always wear trousers or maxi skirts, but with the nice weather here, I decided to give the shorts a try. I like that these aren’t too short at all and have a classy look. Plus when you make your own, you can make it to your liking. Even though I made the trousers in this pattern collection, I went ahead and read through the instructions once more and prepared my pattern pieces accordingly.
I chose to work with CERAMIC Linen to complement the other colors I chose for the other patterns in this collection. It’s such a rich and vibrant tone. I also found it helpful to look at the trousers I had made during assembly if I got stuck. If you haven’t made trousers enough times it’s very helpful to look at a pair along with your instruction. For me, it’s a reminder of how the pieces come together in the end.
I paired my shorts with this oversized linen tee. It gave it a fun and relaxed look, perfect for having a fun day out in the sun. The fabric is so comfortable, It’s why linen is my all time favorite. I like that these shorts are also very versatile, I can pair them with a blazer for work or even a dressier top for dinner. I’m looking forward to my next make from the Ami pattern collection.

Warlene, your outfit looks fabulous! With those long shapely legs, you should wear shorts and mini-skirts all the time! I am particularly impressed with your fly front on the shorts. I have always found them to be a bit of a challenge, but after seeing your work on this pattern, I am set to dive into fly front Ami. The pattern is on the way…now, what color to choose? The ceramic looks awesome, and it’s one of my colors, so I think that’s the choice for me, also.

Warlene, they fit beautifully and I love the sharp pockets in the back. Great Summer color.

Really nice, Warlene!
Can you share the blouse pattern? I’ve been looking for a simple linen blouse pattern and that looks like just the ticket.
