PATTERN REVIEW: Nico Bias Cut Dress In Midweight Linen
First things first, this NICO pattern is great. Not only does it come in the most high quality packaging, but it is simple to follow, gives you three styles to sew, and looks brilliant when finished. This dress will fit perfectly into my wardrobe, and I bet it would look good in yours too.
I have never sewn any garment on the bias before, so I was very excited to give this pattern a try. If you’re hesitant to sew a dress on the bias, this pattern is perfect for you. The step by step pattern is clear and concise, giving detailed instructions that are easy to follow. It comes in a tube with the entire pattern rolled up and printed on one long heavy duty piece of paper, a hook for hanging the cut out pattern pieces like a professional, and an instruction book printed in color. I mean, if this isn’t luxurious, I don’t know what is.
The size I chose was spot on, which is hard for these hips! I usually have problems with this kind of more fitted maxi dresses because of my curvy body, but I was so happy to find out that it fit me perfectly! I chose to sew the maxi version because I love the side slits and unique triangle accent at the bottom.
This was my first time using the Premier Finish linen and I chose the IL042 926 in Middleweight. This fabric is gorgeous. It’s a light sea-foam blue with white woven into it that gives it some body. I highly recommend giving it a try if you want to spice up your linen choices. It was a perfect choice for the NICO pattern because it drapes like a dream.
I’ll be wearing this dress out dancing Salsa! I’m sure it will be on heavy rotation during the Summer months, but I also plan to layer it with more linen pieces during the Spring and fall months as well. This piece is so versatile and I will definitely be making the short dress and the tank top version very soon.

Thank you for your review on this dress pattern. I recently purchased it and was hoping it would be nice to try for someone who only has basic sewing skills. You look fab in this dress.
