PATTERN REVIEW: Lily Dress In Midweight Linen
I was so excited to work with the LILY Pattern because of its versatility and features. I am obsessed with high collars and shirt dresses. The fact that this pattern had this options was a plus. I am actually looking forward to making all the views. I chose the dress version because this time of year I love easy pieces to layer that look good with everything. It is pictured here as a dress but I am sure to also wear it with trousers and even denim.
Working with the Lily Pattern was like putting a puzzle together. I enjoyed seeing how the smallest details came together. Even though it has a minimalist look, the stitching and plackets give it a nice tailored feel. All the top stitching really adds character.
I chose the MECCA ORANGE linen in 5.3oz. The color is amazing and compliments me so well. I love that it is an all year round shade and a very good pop of color for the winter time. I knew the gold buttons I chose would be a perfect compliment.
I did make 4 adjustments to my pattern. The size of the dress, sleeve and cuff. I made mine two sizes up so it had an oversize look. The sleeve cuff (U) I did not fold in half, I left it it’s entire length and added the interfacing still and lined it. So the cuff’s length would be longer (after sewn 6 1/4″) I also did not do the pleat on the sleeve and gathered it instead to fit the cuff opening. This gave both the sleeve and cuff a flair. I also changed the position of my buttons, I only did one button each sleeve and added it to the end of the sleeve placket instead of on the actual cuff so that the cuff could remain open.
I am so impressed with how my dress came out. It’s a piece I can see working well in my closet and for many occasions. I’m always impressed with working with Fabric Store’s linen and patterns.

THIS is my ALL-TIME FAVORITE post of yours, I do believe. And I even have this pattern. I’d better BOOKMARK this page. (Took me forever to find it again – ha!) It’s those CUFFS. And if I had your tiny waist, I’d be all over that belted look.
Thanks,
Annette
